Job description
Nutbar is a superfood cafe that puts the world’s most nutrient-rich, 100% organic foods in the spotlight. We are expanding, and opening our 4th location in Toronto’s West End (425 Adelaide Street West). The Kitchen Lead role is essential to the seamless operations of the cafe and our company as a whole. We are excited to find the right person who is interested in taking our business to the next level and growing with us.

• Have 1-year experience managing kitchen operations in a cafe or restaurant setting and have a fundamental understanding of restaurant or cafe operations
• Take initiative, can multitask, is hyper-organized, positive, and hardworking

• Able to complete physically demanding tasks - standing for long periods, lifting 50lbs
Roles + Responsibilities
Kitchen Service
• Preparation of all menu items to the highest quality standards
• Maintain fluency and knowledge of all nutbar menu, kitchen operations, Food Handling policies, and procedures
• Maintain accurate inventory of kitchen supplies and place orders daily + weekly
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working order
• Successful executions of catering orders and/or special request
Operational Excellence
• Keep a strong line of communication with all suppliers to ensure kitchen needs are met
• Thorough assessment of all incoming product and current processing of invoices or related paperwork
• Complete weekly checklist (consistency spotcheck, cleanliness & safety checklist) & any other responsibilities assigned by Kitchen manager
• Continually monitor, drive and maximize kitchen output
• Closely monitor food waste to ensure that the kitchen is operating efficiently and waste is minimized
• Effectively oversee organized storage and inventory systems
• Identify and quickly resolve issues with processes, equipment and suppliers
Leadership
• Liaise with Front-of-House manager to ensure store is set up for success and no down times occur in menu availability
• Assist the Kitchen Manager in resolving issues related to food & customer complaints immediately & effectively
• Stick to process, communication, commitments & budget
